“I Love Visayan Sea Campaign”: EB Magalona to participate in simultaneous coastal clean-up drives.

Mayor Marvin M. Malacon affirmed that the Municipality of EB Magalona will actively participate in the simultaneous coastal clean-up activities of the 33 cities and municipalities surrounding the Visayan Sea in line with the “I Love Visayan Sea Campaign”.

To be held on February 18, 2019, Mayor Malacon will personally lead the activity together with the Municipal Environment Office and will be joined by the Department of Education (DepEd) family, leaders and members of the coastal communities and people’s organizations (POs), and officials and residents of the 9 coastal barangays.

Having one of the longest coastal line along Guimaras strait of the Visayan sea, the municipal waters of EB Magalona is known for its rich marine resources. From crustaceans such as crabs and shrimps to different species of fish and shellfish. Its contribution to the local economy is significant not just to the town and the province but most importantly to the lives of the people of 9 coastal Barangays were main source of income depends.

 As a “tumandok” of the town, Mayor Malacon believes in the importance of taking care of the environment and protecting the source of livelihood of hundreds of Saraviahon fisherfolks through Coastal Resource Management and other sustainable development programs. That is why it is part of his administration’s priorities dubbed as “TUMANDOK CARES” Development Agenda.
