In EB Magalona: 55 LGBTQ members benefit from Skills Training

            Fifty-five (55) members of the LGBTQ community coming from the 23 barangays of the Municipality of EB Magalona benefit from the Skills Training Program implemented by the Office of Mayor Marvin M. Malacon. This consists the first batch of beneficiaries of the program, which runs from February 7-14, 2019. Several batches of beneficiaries will also undergo the said training program in the near future.

The program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the beneficiaries in make-up and haircut.  In addition, they also receive free make-up and hair cut kits that will also serve as their startup materials for their livelihood.

            Mr. Alvin Langote, the president of the EB Magalona LGBTQ organization, expressed gratitude to Mayor Malacon, on behalf of the group, for the latter’s support to their sector and for providing them such opportunity.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jojo Vargas the group adviser encouraged more individuals in the community level to take part and get involved in such productive activities that is being offered by the LGU. Today, the group will be offering a free haircut and make up for residents of the municipality as part of the valentine’s day celebration at the towns public plaza.

            Serving as the Chairperson of the Municipal Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, Mayor Malacon is committed to promote inclusive development and empowerment of the different sectors, especially the poor, marginalized and underrepresented. This is the reason why the local government unit (LGU) of EB Magalona has been coming up and/or implementing several programs and projects that benefit the residents, in line with the national government’s vision of “matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay” for all Filipinos, dubbed as “AmBisyon Natin 2040”. It is also in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals to achieve gender equality and to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all.

            “Since from the beginning of my term in office, my administration has always been determined to work hard in providing services and promoting opportunities to Saraviahanons regardless of gender, age or status in life,”Mayor Malacon said.
